Frequently Asked Questions
Why Cloth?
Environmental Impact: Cloth diapers are generally considered more environmentally friendly because they are reusable. Disposable diapers contribute significantly to landfill waste, and their production involves the use of non-renewable resources.
Natural Fabrics: Our cloth diapers are 100% cotton with the exception of our inserts that are a bamboo/cotton blend with inner layers of microfiber. No synthetics, fragrances, or chemical fabrics touching your baby’s delicate skin.
Customization: Cloth diapers come in various styles and materials, allowing parents to choose what works best for their baby’s comfort and needs. Additionally, they can be adjusted to fit a growing baby, providing a more customizable and flexible solution.
Reduced Diaper Rash: Some parents find that their babies experience fewer incidents of diaper rash with cloth diapers. This can be attributed to the absence of certain chemicals found in disposable diapers and increased breathability in cloth options.
Earlier Potty Training: Some anecdotal evidence suggests that children using cloth diapers may potty train earlier than those using disposables. The theory is that cloth diapered babies may feel wetness more, facilitating an awareness of the need to use the potty.

Is cloth cheaper than disposables?
The honest answer is “sometimes”. The average baby will use between 6-10 diapers per day, putting the average cost between $60 and $70 per month on diapers (for a budget brand, i.e. Kirkland Signature). This price goes up for “eco friendly” diapers.
At our standard prefold service rate of $35/week, you receive 90 newborn diapers and 80 wipes weekly. This is equivalent to 39 cents per diaper. For reference, a Coterie newborn diaper will set you back 48 cents, a Kuddo diaper 41 cents (38 with subscription) and an Honest diaper is 40 cents.
This doesn’t even consider the cost of disposable wipes which adds up fast! Reusable cotton wipes are included with all full service and rental options.

How do I use a prefold?
A prefold diaper is a square piece of cloth that can be folded a variety of ways to make up the absorbent component of the diaper. It is then covered with a diaper cover for a waterproof exterior.
Below are popular ways to fold a prefold.

How do I use an insert?
An insert is arguably the easiest absorbency option. It simply snaps right into the diaper cover. Wrap the cover around baby and you’re good to go!
See insert service option here
How do I use a fitted diaper?
A fitted diaper goes over baby similar to a prefold (see above) except ours already have snaps! Snap into place and then use a diaper cover for a waterproof exterior layer. See fitted service option here
Does it all go right in the pail?
Sometimes.
(0-6 months): No rinsing needed (nope, not even #2…at this stage of life it is fully water soluble and will come out in the wash)
(6+ months): Shake any solid waste into the toilet, everything else can go in the pail. The more that’s removed, the less staining and less smell you’ll notice on your diapers. Many people find a bidet style sprayer to be helpful with this. We will provide one at no cost to you if you’d prefer this method.
Worth noting: When solids sit on diapers, they are more likely to stain. We avoid harsh chemicals when laundering diapers so the cleaner they are when picked up the cleaner they’ll be at drop off!
What about smell?
Diapers stink! No question. This is true for cloth or disposable diapers. Our diaper pail is designed specifically for cloth diaper services for large volumes.
For smell reduction we recommend:
– Lemon scented diaper pail disks – provide a pleasant scent to cover diaper odors. They last one month and can be added to your delivery in your customer portal shop.
– Sprinkle baking soda in the bottom of the pail.
– Charcoal air purifying bags – can place in your diaper pail but please do not put in the bag itself! If laundered with diapers, can cause damage to machines.
– Place used coffee grounds in a small bag and place in the bottom of the bin (again – not in your diaper bag!).
Additionally, thoroughly removing solids will help reduce offensive odors. Consider using a bidet sprayer to help with this.
Can I use diaper creams and/or powder with cloth diapers?
Absolutely. We recommend the following:
Diaper Rash Cream:
Use cloth-compatible creams. Avoid creams containing petroleum, paraffin, fish oil, or cod oil that can create barriers and reduce the fabrics absorption ability. Please avoid using creams with zinc oxide as this can stain cloth diapers.
Powder:
Talc-free powders are fine to use with cloth diapers and can help provide comfort and dryness.
Check out our store for some cloth friendly options.
How are diapers washed?
Our diapers are put through a thorough multi-cycle process utilizing a dye and fragrance free laundry detergent to ensure they are thoroughly rinsed, cleaned, and dried properly. Your diapers are washed in their own individual load so you receive a dedicated supply specific to your child.
When do I need to sign up?
We recommend signing up at least one to two months prior to your due date to allow adequate time to process your order. We will then drop off your diapers two weeks before your due date. Then all you need to do is notify us when baby arrives and we will schedule your first pickup!
How does pickup and delivery work?
Once a week we will pick up soiled diapers and leave a fresh supply of laundered diapers at your doorstep. We ask that your diapers be outside by 5:30PM (Tuesday delivery day) or 12:00PM (Sunday delivery day). You will receive an email and text reminder the day before. See our Terms of Service for more information.
How does billing work?
Every service comes with an initial “trial period” ensuring you will not be billed until you start services. Once baby arrives and you are ready to start services, billing with begin with your first pickup.
Billing cycles are processed on a monthly basis. Please see our Terms of Service for more information.
What if we go on vacation?
Not a problem! We can pause services during vacation or unexpected life events. You can skip or pause deliveries in your customer portal, or by contacting us directly. During this time, you have the option to launder the diapers yourself (instructions provided) or utilize disposables. Your rate will be reduced to the rental rate for diapers during this time period.
See details in our Terms of Service agreement.
